Description

Product Description

On July 3, 1938, Sir Nigel Greeley’s ‘Mallard’ sped down Stoke bank, South of Grantham at the East coast main line, in a blur of garter Blue. At milepost 90 1/4, between little Botham and Essen dine, the locomotive recorded its absolute best speed of 126 mph. Breaking the 1936 world speed record of 124.5 mph for a steam locomotive, in the past set by a German engine, the record still stands as of late. This set is representative of a standard East coast Pullman train and would have been a well-recognized sight between London and the North.
